Est. 1913
Our club was organized and founded in the fall of 1913, when Burlingame was a new development and many of the oldest houses in our neighborhood were still under construction. The Club is the oldest continuously active women’s social club in San Diego! Its purpose is “to promote social fellowship among the residents of Burlingame and to stimulate the spirit of civic improvement.”
In keeping with our commitment to civic improvement, the club has in recent years contributed food, clothing, household items and money to schools and community service organizations that are primarily focused on women and children. The club sponsors several neighborhood events, including an occasional Burlingame house tour, a Valentine’s Day tea party in February, an annual Easter egg hunt for the children of Burlingame held in nearby Switzer Canyon, and an ice cream social in August.
Burlingame Club Membership is open to all women residing in Burlingame, and all are encouraged to join and participate. Meetings are held September through May at members’ homes on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments and an occasional program follow the business meeting. However, our primary aim is to get to know our neighbors better and enjoy the character of the homes within our neighborhood. Please join us and lend your conversation, your friendship and your laughter to our organization.
